Abstract:Lessons from the Financial Crisis, recommendations for moving forward and why finance is not to blame and why it is good for the people. Irrational exuberance and speculative bubbles inevitably occur because of the nature of human psychology, but they don not destroy the advantages modern finance provides.

Backgroud:Robert Shiller is Arthur Okun Professor of Economics at Yale University. He previously has taught at the Wharton School at UPenn. His PhD in economics is from MIT. Professor Shiller has been listed as one of the top of 100 economists of the world, and as being one of the top 50 people in global finance by Bloomberg. He has been mentioned by Thomson Reuters as being a top candidate to win the Nobel Prize in Economics. He has won the top finance prize, the Deutsche Bank Prize. He routinely has advised Federal Reserve Chairmen Alan Creenspan and Ben Bernanke. He is the author of several New York Times best selling books including Irrational Exuberance and Animal Spirits. He famously predicted the Financial Crisis of 2008. He created the widely cited Case-Shiller housing index. His most recent book is Finance and the Good Society.
