Dr. Theresa Kotanchek

Global VP for Sustainable Technologies and Innovation Sourcing

The Dow Chemical Company

Dr. Theresa Kotanchek is the Global VP for Sustainable Technologies and Innovation Sourcing. In this role, she leads the strategic planning and integration of sustainability into Dow’s innovation platforms and R&D function, working as an R&D member of Dow’s Sustainability Leadership team. As Dow's global R&D focal point for External Technology Leadership, she coordinates external bodies including universities, national labs, government agencies and development partners, with the responsibility to maximizing external sourcing for R&D as well as coordinate Dow’s corporate wide interactions to maximize effectiveness and access to external resources and to build Dow’s brand. In addition she provides corporate oversight of global EHS for R&D. She is based Midland, Michigan.

In 2000, Kotanchek was appointed senior R&D director for INSITE? Technology and New Business Development for Dow Plastics. In 2003, she was named Senior Director of Technology for Dow’s Growth Center.In 2004, Kotanchek was promoted to Global R&D Director for Ventures.In November 2005, Kotanchek was named as Chief Technology Officer of Dow Asia Pacific. In this role, she led all Asia Pacific R&D, including the development and staffing of Dow’s new state-of-the-art R&D center in Shanghai, China.

Kotanchek holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science, a Masters of Science in Ceramic Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Ceramic Science & Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
